If I were a new  or temporary employee at you company how would I find out how to do my specific job functions?

This is a question that is often asked of our potential clients. More often than not the answer is something like
"We generally put the new employee with our experts for a few days or weeks and have the expert show them what is needed. We also recommend that the new person take lots of notes."

Instructing is a profession,
it is not just a side line for someone who already has too much to do. If you think about it, most of what an experienced employee does is done without conscious thought. As a result, they often forget to add some of these critical details when training a new employee or attempting to document their job functions.

Take driving a car for example. When you were taught to drive for the first time, your instructor had a laundry checklist of items that you had to go through before turning on the ignition; adjust your rear view and side mirrors, adjust your seat, fasten your seatbelt, etc. Within a short while you are doing all of these things without even thinking about it.

And you can't rely on the note taking ability of the new employee. Everyone takes notes differently, especially with the stress of a new job,  and as a result often do not properly take notes.

But suppose you were able to provide the employee with minimal orientation and then give him or her a document or series of documents that would show
step by step examples of how each of the job functions were performed? Perhaps even with audio and video presentations. What if a specific topic or question could be answered with the click of a mouse?

This may sound too good to be true, but it doesn't have to be. This is where
Malafarina Technologies can help. We put ourselves in the shoes of someone who knows nothing about the job functions. Next we ask lots of the questions, especially the critical questions. We then document each element of the job function, step by step with photos when necessary so that virtually anyone can use it to do the job.

Real World Example:

We would venture to guess that most people have no idea what a Computer Numerical Control Lathe is and would be intimidated by its
complex control unit that often looks like the cockpit controls of an airplane. Yet several years ago we prepared a document for the CNC lab at Penn State York, PA campus, to start up a CNC lathe from cold shutdown. We then asked a secretary who had absolutely no manufacturing experience whatsoever, to use our document to try to start the machine. At first she was frightened. But by following our step-by-step instructions, she was able to perform the startup flawlessly.

Whatever type of business you have, whatever your procedure or process, if you can explain it to us, we can prepare a user-friendly document at virtually any employee will be able to use and understand.
