My Nightmares By Alex Stephen Malafarina Age 10 #1 The Death Beast As I ran through the woods, I could hear the snarls of the deadly beast behind me. I could hear the twigs breaking underneath my feet. I looked back, though I shouldn't have. The beast was big, black, had razor sharp teeth and dark red eyes that shimmered in the darkness. My legs were getting heavy and tired. I was out of breath and slowing down. I knew I had to stop sometime, but when? I had to hide somewhere. That was it! I could fit through a small space inside a tree, but the beast couldn't, because it was a lot bigger than I was. I just made it into the tree when the beast caught up to me. It tore my shirt, and just missed my side. It stayed in front of the tree as if it was waiting for me to come out of it. Bang! I heard a loud gunshot. I saw the beast flinch. Bang! Another gunshot. The beast flinched again. Bang! Bang! Two more gunshots. But instead of flinching, the beast fell down with a loud thump. I squeezed myself through the hole in the tree. When I was finally out, I kicked the beast to check if it was dead or alive. It didn't move. It was dead. But who shot it? No one checked to see if I was ok either. Why not?
